Industrial product photography Vancouver

I’m Mandana Rostami, an advertising and commercial photographer based in North Vancouver. I create images for brands that need more than a nice picture: photographs built around a message, an audience and a place to run, whether that’s a website hero, an Instagram campaign, a menu, packaging, a catalogue or a billboard. Every project starts with one question: what should someone think or feel when they see this image? Then I plan the light, the styling, the composition and the location around that answer.

If you’re a business owner, marketing manager or agency producer looking for an advertising photographer in Vancouver, you’re in the right place.

What is advertising photography?

Advertising photography is photography made to promote a product, service or brand. Unlike a simple product photo on a white background, an advertising image tells a story. It shows the product in a moment, a mood or a lifestyle that makes people want it.

You may have also heard the term commercial photography. The two overlap, and most photographers in Vancouver use both words. In practice:

  • Commercial photography is the broader category. It covers any photography a business uses, including catalogues, headshots, interiors and documentation.
  • Advertising photography is the campaign-focused end of it. It’s usually more conceptual, more styled and made for a specific promotion.

Not sure which one you need? Tell me what the images will be used for and I’ll recommend the right approach.

Photo and video together in industrial product photography Vancouver

I also offer videography, so you can capture photos and video in one shoot. That saves time and money and keeps your visuals consistent across every channel.

How a shoot works

Good advertising photography is mostly planning. Here is how I run a typical project.

1. Brief and consultation
We talk about your product, your audience, where the images will be used and what you want people to do when they see them. This first conversation is free.

2. Concept and planning
I put together a shot list, mood references and a plan for styling, props, models and location. For larger projects, you’ll get a short creative brief to approve before we shoot.

3. The shoot
We shoot in a studio or on location around Vancouver, depending on the concept. You’re welcome to be there, and I’ll show you images as we go so there are no surprises.

4. Selection and retouching
You choose your favourites. I retouch them carefully, including colour, light, cleanup and finishing, so they look polished but still natural.

5. Delivery
You receive high-resolution files plus web-optimized and social media versions through a private online gallery. I’ll confirm the delivery date in your quote.

What’s included

  • Planning call and creative brief
  • Shot list and styling guidance
  • Professional lighting and equipment
  • The shoot itself, in studio or on location
  • Professional retouching of your selected images
  • Final images in high resolution and web-ready formats
  • Usage rights for your agreed purpose

Available as add-ons: models, hair and makeup, stylists, prop sourcing, studio rental, video, additional retouching and rush delivery.

Usage rights, explained simply

When you hire a photographer for advertising, you’re paying for two things: the work of creating the images and the right to use them. The second part is called a licence.

Usage rights depend on how you plan to use the images. A website and social media campaign is different from print advertising, packaging or outdoor billboards. We agree on this before the shoot and put it in writing in your quote, so you know exactly what you can do with your images. There are no hidden fees.

Advertising photography pricing in Vancouver

Every campaign is different, so I quote each project individually. The main things that affect the price are:

  • Length of the shoot (half day or full day)
  • Number of final images you need
  • Complexity: simple product setups, styled scenes, models and multiple locations all take different amounts of time and crew
  • Team and extras: stylists, models, studio rental, assistants
  • Usage rights: where and for how long the images will be used
  • Retouching: basic cleanup versus advanced compositing

To get a clear estimate, send me a short description of your project and I’ll come back to you with a quote.

Studio or location?

In the studio, I have complete control over light and background. It’s best for products, packshots, food and fashion that need a clean or styled look.

On location gives your images real atmosphere. Vancouver offers a lot to work with: the brick and character of Gastown, the waterfront, the North Shore, forests, mountains and modern city architecture. I’ll help you choose the setting that fits your brand and advise on logistics and permits where needed.

I’m based in North Vancouver(industrial product photography Vancouver) and regularly work in Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, Surrey and the wider Lower Mainland.

Why work with me

  • A plan behind every image. I don’t just show up and shoot. Every photograph has a reason to exist.
  • Clear communication. You’ll know what’s happening at every stage, from brief to delivery.
  • One person for photo and video. Fewer vendors and a more consistent look.
  • Local knowledge. I know Vancouver’s locations, light and logistics, and I’m comfortable working with businesses of every size.
  • Images built for real use. I deliver files in the sizes and formats your website, social media, print and ads need, so your team isn’t left resizing.

Frequently asked questions

  1. How much does advertising photography cost in Vancouver?

It depends on the length of the shoot, the number of final images, the team involved and how the images will be used. I provide a fixed quote after learning about your project.

  2. What’s the difference between advertising and commercial photography?

Commercial photography is any photography used by a business. Advertising photography is a type of commercial photography made specifically to promote a product or campaign. It’s usually more conceptual and creatively directed.

  3. Do I own the photos?

You receive a licence to use the images for the purposes we agree on, such as your website, social media or print. Broader or exclusive rights can be added when needed. Everything is spelled out in your quote before you commit.

  4. How far in advance should I book?

For most projects, two to three weeks is ideal. For campaigns with models, multiple locations or tight deadlines, earlier is better. If you’re in a hurry, get in touch and I’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.

  5. Can you provide models, stylists or a studio?

Yes. I can arrange models, stylists, hair and makeup and studio space as part of your quote, or work with your own team.

  6. How long until I receive my final images?

The delivery date depends on the size of the project and is confirmed in your quote. Rush delivery is available for an additional fee.

  7. Do you also do video?

Yes. I offer videography and can shoot photo and video in the same session, so you get a full set of content from one day of work.

  8. Can you shoot at our location?

Absolutely. I regularly shoot at restaurants, workshops, offices, retail spaces and outdoor locations throughout Metro Vancouver.
